Like an enemy my enemy

zerobombs the photo finish, noses

out number, gives lip(t)o the letter,

crowns itself the mark, moronic dupe

of that tag team of cons—Calvin,

Epicurus—but for its constant

nibbling on null and void, hamster wheel

metabolics and calculations, weighs

nothing but carries ten times its weight

thrown around, a wrecking sycophant’s

nose to nose kisses, whispered sweet

zeroes, the zenith of zilch but sharp as Occam’s

razor halving Paris’ apple, to say

nothing of Zeno’s paradox, an alien

denizen of the republic of signs, dubbing

me the one, its zeromate, a green

e-card away from citizenship.

Like an enemy my enemy

brakes for next, lets the crosswalk traffic

star, backs me with a top-down

cameo, a y-wielding extra

wobbling, pole lurching, a compass needle

with a nervous tic, calls me rake,

hoe, a plot of dirt—fertile, sterile—

furrowed, gouged, reeking of nectar and sulfur,

future forbidden/inedible fruits, christens

me Casanova, Jezebel,

puts this two-seater in park, waits,

betting a backseat-chase drowns the house.

Like an enemy my enemy

hardens and flashes drives detain a suspect

manhandling a subject, extols weeds,

castigates plants, spin turning circles,

circles, rings, torches the flame, a back-

story running for rumor, black boxes

whistleblowers, misspells wicked with five

wrong letters, APB,

I, jurisdiction, keepsake,

am pursuant to the execution

of a warrant pretty pretty pleas
